12.May.04 - A recent randomized trial of lutein and antioxidant supplementation offers hope to atrophic age-related macular degeneration.

Researchers in the US found visual function in a group of people suffering with age-related macular degeneration to improve by supplementation with both lutein (10mg) and lutein (10mg) combined with a group of vitamins & antioxidants.

This study was carried out over a 12 month period on a group of 90 people.The researchers added that further studies were needed with a larger group of people (both male and femail) and for a longer period of time. For full information, please visit PubMed

21.Aug.03 - Lutein could prevent Age Related Macular Degeneration

A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association has shown that people who eat a diet rich in the antioxidant lutein, found in green vegetables, are 57% less likely to develop Age Related Macular Degeneration, a cause of blindness.
